    Gadwall (male)

Two words - understated elegance. The intricate pattern of grey, brown, and black - beautiful. The Gadwall was my 2022 Spot-Light bird that I wanted to attend to getting a sharp, in-focus image. Forest Park, St. Louis, MO.

  • American Kestrel

    American Kestrel

I have no idea why this kestrel just sat there while I took photos from the car. Usually, just slow the car down and they fly off. It really was my lucky day!

  • Purple Fringeless Orchid

    Purple Fringeless Orchid

This is a nice robust stalk - pictures don't do it justice by a long shot. They bloom from the bottom up.

  • Purple Fringeless Orchid

    Purple Fringeless Orchid

My first Orchid. A WGNSS Nature Photography Group field trip to the Castor River Conservation Area. Lots of fun. I learned that even though these have the slight fringe on the ends they are considered fringeless because they are being compared to the Purple Fringed Orchid which has long fringes.
